How side-by-side facial similarity scoring works

Inter-ocular distance, jawline ratio, and landmark alignment

Comparison systems may align facial landmarks and compare numerical representations, including relative distances and shape. The exact features depend on the model. This preview displays two selected photos side by side; it does not generate an unvalidated similarity percentage.

Understanding similarity percentages across different ages and lighting

A numerical score is specific to a model and test setup. It is not the percentage probability that two photos depict the same person. Aging, lighting, pose and camera quality can alter the score.

When to use 1:1 face comparison vs 1:N web face search

One-to-one comparison evaluates two supplied images. One-to-many search compares a query against an indexed collection. The former does not discover new websites, while the latter depends on index coverage. Both require careful human review and neither establishes identity.

Face comparison FAQ

What similarity score suggests the same person?

There is no universal threshold. Scores depend on the model, image quality and calibration data. Do not infer identity from a percentage. This preview produces no score until a validated comparison engine is integrated.

Do glasses or beards lower the comparison score?

They can change or obscure visible features, but the effect varies by model and photo. Use clear, similarly framed photos and review results cautiously. Removing an accessory does not guarantee an accurate comparison.

Are uploaded comparison photos stored?

In this preview, both images remain in browser memory and are not uploaded. Delete them with the removal control or close the page. Future server processing requires a published retention policy before activation.

A visual match indicates facial similarity on public web pages; it is not definitive proof of identity.
